Tenders are hereby invited for the following: Soil survey for Nirwanda Farm. Scope: This project consists of the following elements: 1. Dig soil profiles pits: - 148 profiles based on a 50m grid pattern up to a depth of 1.8m or until a strong clay restrictive layer (rock, clay etc.) or a water table is reached. 2. Soil report which contains the following information: - Soil classification and restrictive layers: - Per profile (7148, in total actual GPS coordinates to be determined and provided): Classification and description of soil horizons, depth of restrictive layers and water table. - Soil map of soil forms - including maps that depicts a profile of restrictive layers and water table. 3. Soil analysis and interpretation: - Chemical: (Two samples per profile: 0-20cm and 30-80cm above restrictive layer or water table) Ph (KCI), Resistance (Ohm), P, K, Ca, Mg, Na, Exchangeable acidity, Cu, Zn, Mn, B, S, % Stone, bulk density, water holding capacity (Elsenburg lab and others), Where little variation is observed in soil characteristics, between soil pits in close proximity soils from adjacent pits as may be mixed for analysis purposes to reduce the soil analysis cost in consultation with the assigned agricultural advisor. 4. Soil suitability: - Provide separate maps that indicate the suitability of soils for table grape production in terms of the following soil characteristics: - Soil Map (Soil types); - Soil Potential; - Soil Internal drainage capacity/wetness; - Soil Salinity (% Na); - Ca/Mg ratio; - Effective soil depth before soil improvements; - Effective soil depth after soil improvements; - Soil pH; - Phosphate requirement; - Lime requirement; - Gypsum Requirement; - Potassium requirement; - Provide an overview of soil preparation methods to be used for each soil type, soil amelioration (Volumes required to optimise soil chemistry) and drainage that will have to be for the different soil types; - Provide ameliorate variation maps in digital format in order to comply with variable field application method requirements.
