Quotations are hereby invited for the following: Provision of Stacking Services for SAFCOL SOC Ltd for one (1) month, Timbadola Saw Mill, R524 Louis Trichardt, Pundamaria Road, Entabeni Road, Levubu, 0929: Scope of work: Provide services stacking service for a period of one (1) month and the contractor will be required to render the following services: • Stacking of wet (green) lumber boards into kiln stacks in the Wetmill Department. Operational Parameters: • Item: Green chain, • Number of people: 63, • Prod. Days (incl. overtimes): 23, • Number of shifts: 2, • Operational hours: 9. Stacking services to be performed: Sticker alignment: • Ensure that stickers are aligned in a straight line from top to bottom and end to end, • Stickers must lie flat and straight, • Stickers to be aligned with bearers of the trolleys, Similar dimensions and principles: • Ensure that similar dimensions are stacked together with regards to thickness and width, • Long boards must be stacked on the outside with shorts on the inside, • Short boards stacking must be done by joining ends at alternate ends to balance the load, • Stacks must be flush on both ends, Sample boards: • Ensure that stacks have 3 sample boards i.e. bottom, middle and top, • Sample boards must be long boards (5.4 - 6.6m length), • Samples must be radially sawn boards with no pith, Maintenance: • Ensure that all stacking bays are maintained at all times with regards to doors, opening/closing of sticker guides and overall condition of the sticker guides, • Do daily checks on all of the chains with regards to chain tension; lookout for worn/damaged links on chains and condition of all sprockets, • Ensure that chains are lubricated daily, • Timeously report faults to the engineering department and contract manager, Stickers: • Ensure that stickers used for samples are 0.9m in length and 22×36mm thickness and width respectively, • Stickers used for stacking boards must be 2.4m in length and 22×36mm in thickness and width respectively, • Endeavour to make use of old returning stickers from Drymill, • Keep track of sticker stock (buffer stock = 20 planed bundles), Quality control: • Monitor quality of boards processed (dimensions and wane) and alert mill personnel for corrective action required daily, House keeping: • Ensure that all stacking bays and surrounding areas are kept clean.
