Synopsis: Added: Mar 13, 2018 2:52 pm THIS IS A SYNOPSIS OF PROPOSED CONTRACT ACTION. THIS IS NOT A SOLICITATION OR INVITATION FOR OFFERORS TO SUBMIT BIDS. THIS NOTICE WILL BE POSTED FOR A MINIMUM OF 15 DAYS PRIOR TO POSTING OF THE SOLICITATION.
The Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP) anticipates issuance of solicitation 15B41518B00000001 for the award of a firm-fixed-price construction contract for a project entitled Replace Transformers at the Federal Correctional Institution (FCI) Waseca.

FCI Waseca is located at 1000 University Dr. SW, Waseca, MN 56093.

The following brief synopsis should not be considered inclusive of work required to complete the project. The project is for the removal of six (6) non PCB containing, pole mount transformers from an electrical vault and to replace them with two(2) "dead front" padmount transformers relocated outside on ground level. The secondary from each transformer will then tie back into existing sets of electrical gear. High voltage will be routed to new transformers and then into the vault to terminate at an existing high voltage switch. The existing switch will be repurposed to a separate fused disconnecting means. Existing high voltage cables that feed other buildings will be spliced in an enclosure, extended to the load side of repurposed switch and terminated. Testing of all cables spliced will then be completed. Twelve (12) high voltage loadbreak terminations, three (3) high voltage splices, and six (6) high voltage terminations to a high voltage switch are to be made.

The performance period for the project will be 120 calendar days from issuance of the notice to proceed.

Pursuant to Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) 36.204, the estimated magnitude of the project lies between $250000 and $500000. (NOTE: This range is one of 8 available ranges from FAR 36.204 and is not meant to imply that the project has necessarily been estimated/budgeted to the maximum of the selected range. It merely conveys that the estimate/budget lies somewhere within that range.)
The North American Industrial Classification System (NAICS) code applicable to this requirement is 237130 with a corresponding small business size standard of $36.5 million.

The solicitation will be available approximately on or about March 28, 2018. The solicitation will be distributed solely through the Federal Business Opportunities (FBO) website at www.fbo.gov. Hard copies of the solicitation will not be made available. The website provides download instructions.
